2015: The Randomness of Thought
This year I painted a canvas and titled it “The Randomness of Thought”. There was no obvious relationship with the diverse elements. In a sense, from way back in the 60’s, that could have been the title for all of my paintings.
I’m curious myself as to how the various subjects get into my work.
Like all of us of some age, I have accumulated a mental storehouse of so much. Six and a half decades worth of rich experience and trivial nonsense.
Perhaps, like dreams work, the subconscious magically sorts and combines the intellectual (things that make sense) and the emotional (things that simply just feel right).
So, in these 2015 paintings there are again smatterings of art history, nostalgia, a celebration of woman, poetry, fiction & non-fiction, movies, friendships and the myriad things I can’t put a label on. In short, a life.
